THE PET FOOD SHOP – 40 years on…………..
In January 1971 ‘The Pet Shop’ was started by Joan Smith located in the tin hut premises in Streatfield Road, Heathfield. Joan sold primarily frozen meats & minces mixed with a broken biscuit.
In September 1981 Joan was joined by her son-in-law Paul Clark (now known affectionately as ‘Pet Shop Paul’) and between them they grew the business and in April 1986 they relocated to Station Approach, Heathfield and the business was renamed to ‘THE PET FOOD SHOP’. With more space the business expanded into pet accessories as well as food. Further expansion took place in 1995 when they over the adjacent shop premises.
In January 2011 they celebrated 40 years of trading in Heathfield and serving the public of Heathfield & area. The Pet Food Shop now stock a wide range of Quality Pet Foods & Accessories and have access to over 18000 pet products. The success of the business is down to good old fashioned service and making available the products it customers want.
